Description
Plastiglas glitter acrylic is a cell cast acrylic sheet with glitter embedded throughout the material. The sparkle shows from both faces and along cut edges, and the sheet keeps the smooth, glossy surface of standard acrylic.
It is commonly chosen for signs, displays, ornaments, jewelry, and other decorative work where plain acrylic looks too flat but the part still has to be cut, engraved, and assembled like ordinary cast acrylic.
Cut tolerance: +0.0″ / −0.2″
Advantages
- Embedded glitter: sparkle is visible from both sides and stays visible on cut and routed edges
- Laser compatible: suited to CO2 laser cutting and engraving as well as CNC routing
- Cell cast acrylic: smooth, glossy faces, and cut edges can be polished
- Fabrication friendly: can be sawed, drilled, heat bent, and bonded with acrylic-compatible adhesives
- Masked on both sides: helps prevent handling marks before fabrication or installation
Applications
- Retail signs, logos, and dimensional lettering
- Point-of-purchase displays and merchandising fixtures
- Holiday ornaments, craft projects, and decorative cutouts
- Jewelry, tags, awards, and small routed or laser-cut parts
- Event decor, photo booth props, and themed installations
- Interior accent panels, inlays, and architectural display pieces
Fabrication and Handling Notes
Use tooling and settings suited to cast acrylic to limit chipping, melting, and edge stress, and run test cuts when dialing in router, saw, or laser settings, especially for small or detailed parts. The nominal 1⁄8″ (3 mm) thickness can vary by about ±5 percent, so measure the sheet before cutting slots, tabs, or inlays that need a tight fit.
Keep the masking on during handling where practical and remove it before final display or use. Clean finished pieces with a soft cloth and a mild soap solution, and avoid abrasive pads and solvents such as acetone or thinner.
