Simona Polygrain®

Description

SIMONA Polygrain® is a woodgrain HDPE sheet for projects that need the look of wood with the durability of a solid polymer panel. Both faces have a textured woodgrain finish, so it works for doors, furniture parts, and other pieces seen from either side.

On all stocked pieces, the woodgrain runs lengthwise.

It is a UV-stabilized, marine-grade HDPE, commonly selected for outdoor cabinetry, marine components, patio furniture, and commercial installations exposed to sun, moisture, salt water, and heavy use. Unlike plywood and other wood-based panels, Polygrain will not delaminate, rot, or splinter, and its integral color makes everyday scratches and marring less noticeable.

Fabrication and Handling Notes

Polygrain can be worked with common saws, routers, drills, and milling tools; follow tooling makers' recommendations for soft plastics. Sharp tools, suitable feed rates, and frequent chip removal limit heat buildup. SIMONA recommends a pre-production trial before cutting finished parts.

Allow for thermal expansion and contraction when fastening. Oversized holes, oversized washers or grommets, and screws designed for plastics help accommodate movement, and stainless steel fasteners and hardware are recommended.

For heavier dirt, use a household detergent solution and a soft brush or sponge. A pressure washer rated no higher than 2000 psi can be used if the spray stays at least 8 inches from the surface. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners and abrasive scrubbers, which can mar the finish.

The sheet is masked on both sides to protect the finish. Check grain direction before cutting final parts, and remove the masking before use.
