Description
Clear frosted cast acrylic is colorless cell-cast acrylic with a matte, light-diffusing surface. It blurs the view of objects behind the sheet while still letting light through, which makes it a practical choice for privacy panels, cabinet and pantry door inserts, backlit displays, signs, and lighting.
It comes in two surface styles. P-95 is matte on one side and glossy on the other. DP-95 is matte on both sides, so the frosted look is the same from either direction. At 1⁄8″ thick, both transmit about 90 percent of light, so the frosting diffuses light rather than blocking it.
Compared with glass, the sheet is about half the weight and more impact resistant. The matte surface reduces glare and helps hide fingerprints and light scratches. It is UV stabilized for indoor and outdoor use, and both sides are masked.
Advantages
- Light diffusion: softens light and obscures objects behind the sheet
- Glass alternative: lighter than glass and more impact resistant for display, glazing, and panel work
- Indoor and outdoor use: UV stabilized and weather resistant
- Dimensional stability: rigid, stable sheet for fabrication and finished parts
- Accepts paint and ink: takes paint and screen printing for signs and graphics
- Easy to fabricate: saw, drill, rout, engrave, or thermoform with suitable tools
Applications
- Privacy screens, partitions, and room dividers
- Privacy windows and cabinet, pantry, and cupboard door inserts
- Retail displays, point-of-purchase fixtures, and exhibit panels
- Signs, sign faces, and backlit graphics
- Lighting diffusers and decorative illuminated panels
- Photography backgrounds and glare-reducing surfaces
- Crafts, prototypes, models, and custom fabrication
Fabrication and Handling Notes
Frosted cast acrylic machines with standard acrylic methods when tools are sharp, feed rates are steady, and the sheet is well supported. Keep the masking on during layout and fabrication, and remove it before installation or display.
Allow for normal acrylic expansion in frames and around drilled holes, and do not overtighten fasteners. Clean with mild soap, water, and a soft, lint-free cloth, and avoid abrasive cleaners and pads. If you use an acrylic cleaner, choose one suitable for matte finishes.
