Description

PALBOARD® 3D is a co-extruded, multilayer PVC sheet for signs, displays, printing, and dimensional builds. Rigid, ultra-smooth PVC outer layers sit over a lightweight foamed PVC core, which makes the sheet stiffer and stronger than standard foam PVC at about half the weight of aluminum composite material (ACM).

Sign makers, display builders, and exhibit fabricators use it because it can be printed, routed, cut, V-grooved, and cold or heat bent, then assembled into structures that ship flat. The layers are co-extruded as one sheet, not laminated together, and every sheet has protective film on both sides.

White/black/white sheet has a black foam core that shows as a dark line along cut and routed edges; white/white/white has a white core for an all-white edge. Palram rates the white/black/white version for interior use only and the white/white/white version for interior and exterior use.

Fabrication and Handling Notes

Carbide-tipped saw blades and multi-fluted carbide router bits give clean cuts and edges. For V-groove bends, use a V-groove bit (90°, 120°, or 135°) and set the depth to leave about 0.6–0.8 mm of the bottom rigid skin intact, which lets the sheet fold into a hinge or corner.

Allow for thermal expansion and contraction during installation. Use oversized holes or elongated slots with washers when fastening panels. Palram lists a service temperature range of 14–122°F and warns that the sheet can soften and deform permanently above 150°F.

Remove the protective film before final use. For printing, bonding, painting, or laminating, clean the surface with isopropyl alcohol and test inks, adhesives, and coatings before production. Use cold lamination only, since heat mounting can warp the sheet. Palram PVC sheets are generally not recommended for use with acetone, ketones, ethers, or aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons.
