Description

AR2 polycarbonate sheet is solid, clear polycarbonate with an abrasion-resistant hard coat on both sides. It pairs the impact resistance of polycarbonate with a harder surface for glazing, shielding, guards, and other panels that see frequent contact and cleaning.

The coating helps the sheet resist scratching, scuffing, and graffiti, and it stands up to a wider range of chemicals than uncoated polycarbonate. The sheet is UV protected for indoor and outdoor glazing, and each sheet is masked on both sides.

Cut tolerance: +0.0″ / −0.2″

Advantages

  • Two-sided abrasion resistance: hard-coated faces reduce visible wear in high-traffic and high-contact applications
  • High impact resistance: often selected for safety glazing, machine guards, and anti-vandal panels where break resistance matters
  • Optical clarity: up to 90 percent light transmission for windows, shields, and barriers that need visibility
  • Improved chemical resistance: the coating resists more chemicals than uncoated polycarbonate; confirm compatibility for the application
  • Lightweight: easier to handle, mount, and install than glass
  • Acoustic insulation: commonly used in sound barriers and acoustic partitions

Applications

  • Safety glazing and industrial protective shielding
  • Machine guards, equipment covers, and viewing windows
  • Security and anti-vandal glazing, including correctional facility windows
  • Transportation shelters and public-space glazing
  • Sound barriers and acoustic partitions
  • Protective shields and visors
  • Recreational vehicle glazing, such as ATVs and golf carts

Buying Considerations

Choose AR2 over standard polycarbonate when panels will be cleaned often or exposed to scratching and graffiti. For glazing that must meet building codes, security ratings, or structural loads, confirm suitability before installation.

Fabrication and Handling Notes

AR2 polycarbonate can be cut, drilled, and routed with tools and methods suited to polycarbonate sheet, and it can be cold-bent to a radius of at least 200 times the sheet thickness. To protect the coating, keep the masking on until fabrication and installation are done, and avoid dragging the sheet across rough surfaces.

Clean with a soft cloth or sponge and lukewarm water with mild soap or detergent. Do not use abrasive or high-alkaline cleaners, dry wiping, sharp tools, squeegees, razors, or gasoline. Test any cleaner or solvent for a specific residue on a small, hidden area first.
